Strengths: Huge wingspan (over 7') for a player of his size. Has tremendous athletic ability, and is very quick off his feet. He has decent hands,a nd the ability to pass out of a double team w/o getting over anxious and turning the ball over. A decent rebounder in the college game. Has a nice looking short jumper out to about 12-15ft, runs the floor very well for a player of his size. Hits teh offensive boards hard either getting his own missed shots or teammates missed shots.

Weaknesses: Suffers from a lack of a natural position. His athleticism and height says he can play SF, but his offensive game screams PF. Without a jumper outside of 12-15ft he is not suited to play the SF role on any NBA team. He should be better at blocking shots given his athleticism, and wingspan. He is a decent rebounder, but 7-8rpg will not cut it if he plays PF in the NBA. A player like Patterson can only get by so long on his athleticism. He needs to develop a skillset which will give him a natural position in the NBA.
